In April 2014, Fernandez worked as the first reporter to bring live reports during historic flooding. She also covered the Escambia County jail explosion, F-35 training kicking off at Eglin Air Force Base, and the funeral of Col. Bud Day.
Jenise began in the business as a one-man-band fill-in anchor/reporter at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana. While there, she was nominated for a Suncoast Regional Emmy for her constant coverage of the disappearance and murder of college student Mickey Shunick. She is also a proud representative of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and she is a former Miss Miami and placed 4th runner-up at the 2010 Miss Florida Pageant.
Her favorite teams are the Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat, although she will admit to having a “soft spot” for the Saints upon living in Louisiana for some time. In her spare time, she loves to read, check out the latest movies, try out new restaurants, travel, and write.
