After graduating from high school, Ginger attended the University of South Carolina where she attained a BA degree in English and Theatre. Later she pursued a news broadcasting career. This was after her college theater professor told her she had a unique presence that captured the attention of other students in the classroom. Therefore he advised Ginger to pursue a career in journalism and helped her secure an internship at WIS the local NBC television station in Columbia, SC. Previously before joining WKMG she worked at Gannett Company Inc from February 2006 to July 2013, where she served as a news anchor and reporter. While in the station anchoring WTSP-TV (CBS)| 10 News Ginger was responsible for anchoring “10 News This Morning,” “10 News at 9,” and “10 News at Noon.” She worked closely with co-anchor, producers, and directors to present comprehensive newscasts with stories relevant to the morning audience. Gadsden also produced original content for morning shows which would also air in evening newscasts.
She even incorporated social media (AIM, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) when appropriate to move stories forward and engage viewers as well as to promote broadcast content disseminated via the web. Ginge set up, produced, and reported hold-for-release stories at least twice a week (these stories would usually air the following week). Gadsden franchise & special events reporting included the Wednesday’s Child, where she produced a weekly franchise story focusing on Tampa Bay children in foster care. Ginger arranged conference calls with care managers and foster families to learn about a child’s particular interests and then made arrangements for the child to take part in a “fun” event to showcase his or her personality.
She also field anchored live for special events including the BCS National Championship Game in Glendale, Arizona 2007, Tampa Bay Rays World Series from Tropicana field 2008, and Super Bowl 43 Live from Raymond James Stadium 2009. Prior to Gannett Company Inc, she served at USA TODAY in McLean, VA from February 2001 to January 2006 as a news anchor and correspondent. Previously before moving to McLean, VA from April 1998 to September 2000, Gadsden worked at Gaylord Entertainment Inc. + CBS Inc in Dallas, Fort Worth Area as a news anchor. She anchored the KTVT-TV (CBS)| 11 News, Ginger’s primary responsibility was to anchor the station’s 5 am and 6 am newscasts. She also reported stories on a daily basis and served as station representative for a variety of community events. Gadsden was then promoted from weekend news anchor.
From March 1996 to April 1998 Ginger worked in Indianapolis, Indiana at Tribune Company as a news anchor and reporter. She served the WXIN-TV (FOX)| FOX 59 News. This was her first job after internship. Her primary responsibility was to anchor the station’s 10 pm newscast. Gadsden also reported on a regular basis day-of-air stories for the evening newscast and contributed to Sunday night sports show (59 Overtime). She was then promoted from weekend weather anchor and entertainment reporter.
