Cummings is a weekday morning news anchor for KCRA. Brandi joined the station as a general assignment reporter. While in the station she has covered many stories in Northern California including the wildfires and snow. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she covered extensively issues concerning funding, testing, and vaccine equity. Cummings regularly gives community members a voice to shine a spotlight on important issues.
Previously before joining KCRA, Cummings worked in Portsmouth, Virginia at WAVY/WVBT. Brandi served the station as a solo weekend evening anchor. She worked as both a general assignment and an award-winning investigative reporter.
Prior to working at WAVY, she worked at WTOC in Savannah, Georgia as a morning anchor. Previously before moving to Savannah, Brandi worked at WIS in Columbia, South Carolina, where she served as a reporter/anchor. Brandi began her career at WRDW in her hometown, Augusta, Georgia as a producer.
Cummings has managed to acquire several honors and awards, which include awards from the South Carolina Associated Press and Virginia Associated Press. Brandi is a two-time National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Award winner. She was also honored with a Concurrent Resolution from the South Carolina General Assembly for her service to the people of the state, in May 2012.
Cummings’s stories have created opportunities for her to interview some of the most influential people including former President Barack Obama. Brandi was also featured on the Summer 2011 cover of Midlands Woman Magazine. Brandi is a former Board Member of The First Tee of Savannah, a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, San Francisco/Northern California Chapter.
Cummings fulfilled a life’s dream to develop a program for girls, in 2010. Brandi spearheaded the execution of the program created, titled “Loving Me Seminar” for teen girls in both Columbia, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. She was able to self-publish her first book of poetry, “Straight to the Heart: Life & Love”, in 2010.
